YouTube Preview Image No, not back to 1987, and if we see anyone with John Stamos's hair from these credits, we'll be running in the opposite direction... but yes, it's true, for Thanskgiving 2010, Tony and I will be spending it in SAN FRANCISCO! We've never been to the West Coast together, and neither of us have been to San Francisco, so this will be another first for us. No real set plans, though we've spent our fair share of time scoping out restaurants and figuring out what we must hit while in town. Chinatown is a must, as will be a stop to the Mission district. We plan to get gussied up one night and blow our budget at La Folie, and see what its one Michelin star is all about. Of course we'll need to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, the Museum of Modern Art, take a ride on a cable car, and even though it's super touristy, I want to pop by Fisherman's Wharf an see if we can spot some sea lions! Oh, and did we mention that we'll probably be meeting up with Matt from A Guy's Moleskine Notebook? Matt has graciously agreed to share a meal with us and maybe even show us his favorite spots in town. We're super excited to meet a blogging friend, especially one with local insight into what promises to be a great city. Anyone else been to San Francisco? What are your must-hit spots to see (or to eat at!)? Oh and as for the reading front, I'm scurrying to finish up a book today so I don't have to lug it with me on our travels. I think we'll be mostly using our e-readers whilst away, though I am contemplating bring a paper book so that I can read at all times while on the plane. I'm thinking a short story collection might be ideal, because then I won't mind putting it down in favor of a novel (as I hate to have multiple books going at the same time). We likely won't be blogging until we get back, but you can expect a full-report replete with plenty of pictures upon our return. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend to those of you celebrating (and just a regular old great weekend to the rest of you)! Oh, as for you now having the Full House theme in your head for the rest of the day? You're welcome!

Yay! It sounds like it’s going to be a wonderful trip, and I can’t wait to hear the recap when you get back! I hope you both have a wonderful time, and that you take loads of pictures to share with us!

I hope you guys have an amazing trip! Should be a blast. Are you also going to Alcatraz?

Have a wonderful trip. SF is one of the most awesome cities in the world and I think you will love it. Be sure to visit some of the indie bookstores of which Matt will be able to give you the best ones to see. I live just south of SF and try to get there as often as possible. There are great museums to visit, Union Square for shopping, Fisherman’s Wharf of course, Alcatraz is fun although might be pretty cold this weekend, tons of great restaurants, and of course all of the bookstores. Have fun!!

  4. Have a wonderful time! I wish I could join you and Matt – I bet you will have a great time together. I haven’t been to San Franciso before so I look forward to hearing all about it.

Our number one place to go there is Tartine at 18th Street and Guerrero (Mission District) – best bread pudding and best coffee anywhere, in our opinion! Another great foody place is The Ferry Building, which is sort of an upscale Farmer’s Market. And Lombard Street is famous for being curvy and steepish, but the REALLY fun steep streets are Filbert Street and 22nd Street. They are two of the steepest navigable streets in the Western Hemisphere, at a maximum gradient of 31.5% (approximately 17°).

    Have a wonderful time!!!

I’m all ready to show you my hidden spots. 🙂 Have a safe trip to San Francisco.

Oh, I love San Francisco! I hope you guys have a blast! If you’re in Chinatown, there’s a place that makes fortune cookies (kind of a whole in the wall place in a little alley if I remember correctly). And I really recommend Alcatraz, if you have the time. Dress warm! It’s cold here this week!!
